Mama’s Day Gift Ideas

by Heather Ferber on May 5, 2014

Mother’s Day is right around the corner (Sunday, May 11th) and I know all our hubbies and children have their cards made, letters written, gifts wrapped, and hearts full of love but I thought I’d share a few fun gift ideas anyways (just in case anyone is still in need of some creativity and motivation).

Ladies, feel free to pass this message on to the men and children.

For the Foodie

Spiralizer – this is an inexpensive kitchen gadget that can add flavor to your favorite meals.  You can “spiralize” zucchini, squash, radishes, cucumbers, sweet potatoes and so much more!  I’ve seen them at Target and Bed Bath & Beyond for reasonable prices ($20-29).  Or you can find online through Amazon.  Click here to see a spiralizer similar to the one I use at home.

Coffee Grinder – another handy kitchen gadget that won’t break the bank.  Occasionally, I use my small coffee grinder to grind coffee. More frequently, I use it to grind oats (to make out flour), chia seeds, flax seeds, and dried out sprouted bread (to make sprouted bread crumbs).  My kids will tell you there’s even MORE that I grind in there but some of it I keep secret.  Here’s an example of the coffee grinder I have.

Whole Foods Gift Card – so much fun can be had at your local Whole Foods (if you have one).  Perhaps Mom has another favorite health food stop or special foodie spot.  A gift card to spend, while Mom is shopping on her own, is a lovely gift.

U-Konserve Containers – and once Mom has done her special grocery shopping, she will be looking for some great containers to pack up her prepared food and take it on the road when needed (because we Moms are always on the run).  U-Konserve has great quality food storage containers for both Moms and their little peeps.  Check them out here.

CSA share – it’s early May and local farmer’s markets are cropping up all over SE WI and other parts of the country (some of you are fortunate to have them all year long!).  A CSA stands for “Community Supported Agriculture” and it’s a great way to bring more veggies and fruits into your every day life.  Contact your local farmer’s market vendors to find out who is offering a seasonal CSA. And perhaps the first time around you want to share your CSA with another family – that way you ensure you will not be inundated with too may veggies/fruits of one kind.

For the Workout Wonder Wo-mom

Athleta – they carry great fashion for everything from spin, to swim, and yoga to everyday wear.  You’ve seen the infamous “yoga pants” you tube video right?! Every mom needs a great pair of yoga pants or some stylish workout wear to make going to the gym much more fun. And Dad’s you will really like this line of fashion, I promise!  Find Athleta here.

Life Factory Water Bottles – fun and fashionable.  Need I say more?  Glass bottles with rubber protective coating.  Will make it to the gym, school, on the road and beyond.  I’ve dropped mine on the floor several times and it’s all in one piece functioning fabulously so don’t let the glass scare you off.  Check them out here.

Fabletics – this is Kate Hudson’s line of workout wear.  Filled with pops of color, this line will bring a bit of fashion and fun into any Mom’s workout wardrobe.  You can “customize” an outfit for Mom based on her likes/dislikes – the site gives you suggestions after a brief survey.  Check it out here.

Just for F.U.N.

Flowers – What Mom does not love getting colorful, bright, beautiful flowers?!  Enough said.

Homemade IOU’s – to clean up the kitchen, clean out the pantry, put away the laundry, clean up the bathroom, make a meal, do the weeding, – the list is endless and most Moms would appreciate any helping hands with some of these tasks.  Make your mom’s day with a thoughtful IOU (or a few of them).

Better Health By Heather Gift Certificate – does Mom talk about wanting to make some healthy lifestyle changes for herself and her household?  Maybe she’s not sure where to start.  You can get her on her way with a  BHBH Gift Certificate.  Call me at 414-305-6966 to make it happen.

And that should get you on your way for some fun Mother’s Day Planning!  Be sure to take some pics of the great gifts you give Mom this year and share over on my blog.

Moms are A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.

I’m so blessed to be a Mom.
