A little bird, well actually 4 large ones, popped into by backyard this week to let me know spring has sprung (I think). This year we have 4 huge sandhill cranes that have taken residency in our backyard conservancy. Last year we had only two adult sandhills…but those two had several babies and we are wondering if those are the two new additions to the group this year. Anyways, their return always marks the beginning of spring in my mind. This year, these birds probably should have stayed away for a couple more weeks as it looks like we may get a bit more snow this week. AGH! Really?!?! Not sure I can handle that.
My first week of spring was a beautiful celebration marked by lunches with several of my wonderful friends. Each lunch was a special celebration of friendship and food and a great time to catch up on all that has been going on in our busy lives. I am at a point in my life where I truly treasure the time I get to spend with friends face-to-face. Many of us are busy raising children, working part-time/full-time, cooking, cleaning, managing technology, volunteering at school and other organizations, and the list goes on. All too often we don’t have time to sit together laugh, feel loved, and enjoy each other’s company. Seems like I was just talking to my friends about their New Year’s resolutions and boom! Now we are talking about Easter and spring vacations. How did that happen?!
So speaking of those New Year’s resolutions, how are you doing with yours? Honestly, I have done ok with two of mine, but have been disastrous with a few others. So I am going to get back on track. In fact, a few of my friends mentioned that they were really missing my blog posts on a regular basis so I promised them to get back on track and really commit to posting twice/month. Yeah! That happens to be one of my resolutions I have not been so good at. So sorry! I know and accept that I am not perfect. But springtime is the time for renewal, rebirth, and blossoming. It’s the perfect time to get back on track with your resolutions, to set new goals or intentions, or to birth fabulous new ideas and dreams. It’s the perfect time to renew your commitment to self and better health. Presently, I’m doing all of these and will be updating you over the next few weeks on several exciting developments in my personal and professional life.
For today, take a few moments to reflect on those resolutions that you wrote back in January. Be excited and celebratory if you have accomplished your goals and are on to another set of goals and resolutions. But, don’t be sad or shameful if you have not done so well with them. Take time to reflect on the why’s – why are you not making forward progress. Think about how you can get back on track and move in the forward direction. Look to those friends and family who support you to help you reevaluate and aim to make progress towards accomplishing your goals and dreams.
A special thanks to my friends and family who always encourage me and inspire me. You make me feel spring in my body, mind and spirit.
Hope you can all find spring in your bodies and minds over the next couple weeks. And for those friends I missed last week, let’s lunch real soon!
